Content. In Travaux du Muséum National d’Histoire naturelle “Grigore Antipa” original papers of broad interest dealing with zoology, zoogeography, ecology, paleontology, geology, museology, history of science are accepted, as well as notes about museum’s events, book reviews, anniversaries and obituaries of notable biologists. Papers will be published in English or French; abstracts only in English and French, summaries, in Romanian.
Submission of manuscripts. Papers are accepted for publication on the basis of merit. Manuscripts should be sent to the editor, “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History, Sos. Kiseleff nr. 1, 011341 Bucuresti 2, România. Any mail will be sent to the here-in-after mentioned addresses. The author is requested to provide the printed version of the manuscript in two copies together with a copy of the electronic file on CD edited in Microsoft Word for Windows XP.
Form of manuscripts. The manuscript must be typed 1.5 spaced, on one side of A4 paper, with the symbol “Times New Roman CE”. The sequence of material should be as follows (all titles with capital letters): Title (12 points), Author(s) name (11 pts), Abstracts and Key words (9 pts), article body (11 pts) (titles with italics, 10 pts: Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussions), Acknowledgements (9 pts), Romanian summary (9 pts, title 10 pts), Literature cited (9 pts), Mailing and e-mail address of author(s), Figures captions (each figure numbered and identified) and foot notes (all 9 pts), Tables (11 pts, title 9 pts). Use italics for scientific names of genera and species, and in the description of a species for the titles of sequence (material, description, distribution, remarks), as well as for fully spelled Latin words. The abstract should not exceed maximum 8-10 lines, and Romanian summary maximum half of page. Figures caption, tables and figures should be on separate pages; figures proportioned to fit within the journal’s margins when reduced (13 cm wide, 20 cm high, maximum 25/38 cm). Each table should start on a separate page. All papers referred to in the text should be listed in the “Literature cited” alphabetically by the senior author’s surname and initials, then chronologically for multiple papers by the same author(s). Name of periodicals should be written out in full; i. e.: BURBANCK, W. D., 1962 a – Further observation on the biotope of the estuarine isopod Cyathura polita. Ecology, 43 (4): 719-722. followed by BURBANCK, W. D., 1962 b; BURBANCK, W. D., M. BURBANCK, 1961..., and BURBANCK, W. D., L. ABELEE, J. R. COMER, 1960...; ROMAN, M.-L., H. DALENS, 1999 – Ordre des Isopodes...:177-278. In: J. Forest, ed.,Traité de Zoologie... The running head (8 pt) should not exceed about 70 characteres and spaces.
All papers published in our journal are subjected to a peer-review.
Review process. When a manuscript is received by the Editor in chief, he will have it reviewed by at least two peers qualified to evaluate the manuscript and he normally asks the reviewers to complete the review in one month. However, the reviewing process will normally take longer, depending on the length of the manuscript and reviewer s responses.
Proofs. The authors will receive galley proof for correction and approval. Major changes other than correcting printer’s or editor’s errors will be charged to the authors.
Publication costs. Authors are expected to pay full page charges. The cost of reprints is in addition to the page charges and is billed separetely to the author by the editor. However, authors are encouraged to offer biological materials for museum’s collections. The value of donations could cover all the printing costs.
